Endorsed by National Organization for Women

Lauren is thrilled to learn that she has been endorsed by the Washington State National Organization for Women Political Action Committee (NOW/PAC).

Both Lauren and NOW care deeply about protecting reproductive rights, ensuring economic justice (from the glass ceiling to the sticky floor of poverty), stopping violence against women, ending discrimination based on gender or sexual orientation, and more. This endorsement demonstrates Lauren’s commitment to fight for these issues in the state Legislature, especially in the face of renewed and fierce Republican attacks on women in all aspects of their lives.

Thank you very much to everyone at NOW/PAC!

Fun at the campaign kickoff!

Lauren had the great pleasure of welcoming friends and supporters to her campaign kickoff last Monday!

Many thanks to Pierce County Executive Pat McCarthy, State Representative Laurie Jinkins, and Carol Mitchell for speaking in support of Lauren. And to Brie Yost and everyone at the Tacoma Little Theater for allowing us to hold the event in their great space.

Tacoma City Council Member Lauren Walker Announces Campaign for State Representative In the 27th Legislative District

Tacoma City Council member Lauren Walker announced today she will run for the 27th Legislative District State Representative Position Two. This is the seat being vacated by State Representative Jeannie Darneille.

“We’ve seen too many cuts to our K-12 schools, our universities, and our safety net while we’ve ignored tax breaks that have outlived their usefulness. Frankly, it’s time for bold leadership and I’m excited to get down there and get it done,” said Lauren Walker.

Lauren serves on the Tacoma City Council and has worked the last fifteen years as the executive director of the Fair Housing Center of Washington. She worked fifteen years prior in providing services to seniors. Lauren has served on mediation, housing, and elder services boards of directors for over twenty-five years.

I believe I have the business experience to take on our toughest budget problems while understanding how to bring new jobs and new businesses to Tacoma and the state. I’m running because the 27th District needs someone who is approachable, cares about their concerns and has the passion to get things done,” added Walker.

Lauren Walker was born and raised in the northwest and has lived in the Hilltop neighborhood of Tacoma since 1990.
